up at 6.15am with z coming to show me a picture he'd drawn

at 6.30am i went downstairs to ask z to stop kicking the cardboard box round the kitchen (under our bedroom)

at 6.45am i went back to the kitchen to ask z to stop kicking the box round the kitchen AGAIN

but he wasn't there: it was mr. bunny eating the contents of the food bin and spreading rotting food waste round the kitchen

when i went to see what z was doing, he'd gone back to be and was sleeping soundly

i could not go back to sleep

so spent the morning weeding in herbaceous borders (or 'horatio borders', as z calls them)

jeff, ann marie and emma came OVA for afternoon tea

'it feels weird without mum here' said z

which is sad and true
