thinking about mounting heads on poles at front of house

the gas board (SGN) are providing the new farcical entertainment in our lives...only we're not finding it amusing

they are charging £2500 to attach 10ft of new gas pipe to new/old house

they were supposed to connect the gas two fridays ago

mid week, last week, i pointed out to them that they had not been as per agreement

and after apologies they came to dig last friday: a week late

they arrived and said they couldn't dig because they had the wrong permits

after some hours and encouragement, they got the right permits and spent all day digging but didn't find the gas main so left a hoie behind barriers all weekend

yesterday they came to dig again but decided the gas main wasn't where it should be so after a few hours of mainly sitting in a van, left the hole again

today they turned up and decided they couldn't dig a new hole till the old hole had been closed up (health and safety) but they couldn't close the hole they dug: someone else would have to close the hole

someone else will come to close the hole on thursday (earliest opportunity) and then someone ELSE will come to dig a new hole friday

it's not a surprise things don't get done in our country.
