called mave (who we bought new/old house from) yesterday to make sure she'd been reunited with yogi (her dog that had been walkabout last week)

'how are things?' i said

'not good: bryan's dying: he's in a hospice'

today lucy and i took mave to see bryan

who despite having had prostate cancer for 10years and now bone cancer, was sitting up, looking spritely and trying to organise his return home so he could 'get on with things'

he really did look like he might be in the wrong place
everyone around him looked like they were in their final days

made a pact with lucy, that if i ever find myself that old and in a similar position, to bust me out and (ultra)boost me off a cliff

no need for bryan to be busted out though: reckon he'll be walking himself out soon.
such a strong, determined man
