started chipping norton with the club hammer and coal chisel.

did a square foot in an hour and couldn't carry on.

relocated to HSS, after some driving round and round trying to find where they had relocated to

hired me a HILTI TE-30-C with a chisel tip

after years of daily painting studio coves start to crater like the moon

very ugly

signs of a studio that doesn't look after itself

in need of attention

one (not named here to be polite) studio i was in recently, has SO much paint piled on that there is a slope you have to climb to get onto the cove and it's easy to trip up it and i slid down it last time i was there: not very health and safety

many people don't go back to scratch they just sand of the craters, which is very dusty

the bow bunker cove didn't get a chance to crater

it was 2cm of paint in the middle and 1cm on the edges

i take some pride (in everything i do) in the perfectness of the bow bunker cove

early on, discovered a problem: the studio cove floor is 28 square meters (7m x 4m) and the chisel tip on the HILTI is 3cm wide

the maths wasn't good

mick kindly came over and cut a line in the paint so i didn't chip too far into the curve

but 11 hours later, blistered, in all kinds of pain, both arms with pins and needles from the pneumatic action and having worn off a patch of arm hair

all the chipping was done

next issue: our cove was designed (cunningly) by 'the grid' so the bend of ply falls under the level of the concrete floor but now, that level of paint was higher than the concrete floor so there was an ugly lip

an ugly lip: not desirable in photo studio

mick came back over with a hand sander and i spent a couple of hours going at the lip, to little avail.
dusting the studio which i had been trying to avoid

retired tired at midnight

some people have assistants that do this kind of thing

i have myself to blame for micro managing this kind of physical abuse
