lets get to work...

its not usual i have armed security (the army) on set for my photoshoots

checking for booby traps, mines, and managing other security issues

but then, i dont work in too many countries currently at war

spent the day getting a bit deeper into bucha and Irpin city

and getting into some of the buildings that the visiting dignitaries like bono, Richard Branson and Macron etc etc have been looking at the outsides of.

meeting local people and hearing their stories about what happened here

WTF? happened!

this is for a project that world extreme medicine have kindly funded and working with ZOOT magazine that will hopefully provoke some more conversation about what's happening with Russia's invasion of ukraine and the war, at a time when there seems to be some news fatigue internationally

someone actually asked me if the war was still going on when they heard i was coming out here again.

a genuine question

yes: the war is still happening RIGHT NOW and innocent civilians continue to be targeted in civilian areas across ukraine EVERY DAY

Putin and his Russian Orcs need to be stopped as soon as possible

do not try this at home

just before i took my first proper photo, my $20k hasselblad detached itself from my new (used and not quite as mint as described) carbon fibre tripod and smashed into three pieces from 5ft above the concrete floor i was standing on

yes: digital hasselblads are NOT usually found being used in war zones

incredibly, i put the pieces back together and did two days shooting without any complications

i have no idea how i didnt fuck it completely

i am shooting without photo assistant/s so i only have myself to blame (and MPB. that sold me the tripod, and who i will be speaking to quite sternly soon)
