back to our private beach...

back to our private beach...

...in the direction of pablo escolar's summer house(s)

a rainy, cloudy day: thankfully offering some respite from some seriously hot sun breaks between the clouds.

thought we'd ordered some tacos for lunch at the 'restaurant' next door

after 45mins of polite british-style waiting for the tacos to arrive, i went back to the 'bar' and said sheepishly, 'did i order some tacos earlier?'

'no, you didn't do that' said the waiter

which was unexpected as we had been discussing the rice and salad that we'd have liked too.

swam out from the beach with snorkel on (didn't bring fins and wish i had)

didn't see any fish till i got 100m out and into 10m deep water.

and didn't see too many fish until i saw a shoal swimming fast away from me.

turned to see what they were moving away from and met the largest barracuda i've ever seen.

remembered they're considered 'fast and furious' 'fast and ferocious' and wondered what i could do about it.

barracudas have large eyes and i could sense this one looking at me as it swam slowly, low, around me, as i continued to swim back to shore, nervously.

i was not mistaken for 'large prey' and we both parted as friends.
