rain does not stop play

rain does not stop play

drove up hard knot pass to wast water on roads that looked like rivers and walked up scafell pike in torrential rain and gale force winds

abandoned a summit attempt 3/4's of the way up

on the way down, 'river crossing' had gone from stepping stones to hop over, to waste deep, white water rapids that were too dangerous to cross.

other walkers returning from scafell pike started to accumulate, stuck.

someone on the other side said they'd go for help

i crossed and returned but it took all my strength and cunning

it could not be done carrying mr.bunny (i know because i tried)

decided to climb back higher and cross at a point where the water was narrower.

threw the dog and bridged the deepest gap to help others get across

made it back to the carpark in time to pass mountain rescue and an ambulance heading up to rescue them that didn't follow me.

the road to hard knot pass was shut on our return.

decided to ignore the 'road closed' sign and laughed driving through a few flooded lanes thinking 'that shouldn't have closed a road'

then went for a drive through 40ft of deep water that came up to the perou-mobile doors.

somehow limped up and down hard knot pass with only a few cylinders (out of the usual eight) firing.

so avoided mountain rescue and avoided AA rescue

a much more dramatic day than anticipated
