there were other prospective buyers of the grade II listed shitter (aka unloved building that full of cracks, pigeon shit and pigeons) viewing the property at the same time as us.

as Lucy was leaving the kitchen and this trapped pigeon, an (under) developer passing Lucy sneered, 'you loved that pigeon don't you?'

seems like a polite enough, poor attempt at conversation

but Lucy is confused and i am outraged (when i hear about this later in the car home)

patronising and sexist

he would certainly not have said this to me, a man.

maybe knowing i would have immediately replied, 'fuck off: that pigeon is your mum'

we discuss this with our friend louise when we take snoop dawg for a puppy playdate with ned, Louie's awesome jackapoo

and how men and women are able to react differently to interactions

i say my reflex reaction to anything i am uncomfortable with is 'FUCK OFF!'

louise says women cant do that or people would think they're angry, mad women.

i insist, 'if in doubt just reply "FUCK OFF": covers a lot of bases'

later, the promised thunder storm looks like its not coming, so lucy's out front of house watering the grateful flowers and topiary

a passing man stops and says to her 'your puppies are incredible'

but fortunately just before taking my advice and issuing the standard perou retort, realises he is talking about the magnificent POPPIES we have growing in our front garden.
