good guff

good guff

starting every morning with a swim in the steaming hot salt water pool at the hotel feels great.
and my back ache is easing, unexpetedly.

(yesterday) had brunch at the news room cafe: chicken and garlic mash washed down with an empress smoothie: one of my favourites.
i'm a man with ridiculous habits.

i'm a ridiculous man with habits.

returned to hotel to spend the rest of the day painfully writing and rewriting a treatment for an upcoming shoot.

i hate writing.
i hate that how well i write about what pictures i'm going to take / films i'm going to make has a bearing on me getting to do the work at all.

who would have thought that a photographer has to be a skilled writer too?

writing good guff is sooooo important: the power of ze words.

as it's jason stratham week here in LA last night we went to see him in 'the mechanic'.

i would like to revisit what i said about him being a great actor and a dude in yesterday's post.
jason stratham is a dude...ben foster is a great actor.

apres cinema, up till midnight rewriting the treatment again.
wishing i was able to be more succinct and eloquent.

today (finally?) swam first then worked till lunchtime on pre-production on multiple upcoming shoots.
it's good to be busy again.

had brunch at soho house LA (view from there, here)
they let me in this time.
had a wonderful full english breakfast and felt good about the world.

back to the hotel office for many more hours of thinking and writing.
i do more of this than anything else.

dinner with david curcurito art director of american esquire and wendall the fashion director back at soho house LA.
sat amongst the olive trees and discussed french vs italian pornography.

tomorrow i'm shooting another cover of american esquire...for their april issue, i think(?)

i won't be hiring a helium blimp but 'change is afoot'.
there will be a small announcement about big change (for me) tomorrow: watch this space.
