the day started strange:
during a visit to tescos to purchase a bag of onions and a sharp kitchen knife.
i was using a self service checkout, which was going well till i scanned the knife's barcode and alarm bells started ringing.

i was dressed a little gang-star...or at least like a hitman: dark suit, dark glasses, lots of rings, white shirt, black tie etc...

"what do you want the knife for?", asked the tescos manager.
'i want to chop things up', i said.
'are you a chef?', asked the manager.
'no...' i said.
i wanted to say, 'i'm a debt collector and a knife is my preferred tool of persuasion'...
but i didn't.
the tescos employee took a long while looking at me suspiciously.
then said, 'ok: you can have it'.
very generous.
i wonder what training they had to have before they could correctly evaluate a customer's potential for knife crimes?

DTT.

stopped at the lab out of town and picked up a TON of old negs from the last year or the year before.
was weird to remember what it was like to shoot film and get negs scanned.
how overnight did that all change?

stopped in weird posh shoreditch and had a drink with abrar and willy, zakia and some others at the (poshposh silly?) albion.
there is no credit crunch or recession in these places.
if you close your eyes it goes away.
shoreditch is like another place altogether these days: totally alien.

shot 'matt lucas' at spring (my 2nd time there this week)
didn't get the shot i planned and hoped for so in some ways feel like i failed my mission.
however, DID get a LOT of great photos that i hadn't planned for.
which is sometimes the way.
he was very easy to photograph: very giving.
quite quiet.

dropped ms.hood home and continued home to my own home.

today was friday 13th and so far...nothing bad has happened here...is that tempting fate?
regardless, i am NOT super sticious....much
