KEY GATE

KEY GATE

aka: they're in the saaaaaand

packed up and off early

picked up the big ol' 6 berth motorhome from harrietsham and rendezvoused with stu and annabel and their motorhome at services on m20

taking the lead, almost immediately lead our convoy on a wrong turn back to faversham on the m2, locked in for 8 miles the wrong way and then back again

i'm programmed to GO HOME

steady but excited plod to the LATITUDE festival in Suffolk

our third year
stuart's first festy, ever

everything was going well and we were just getting into the festival swing of things

it was getting dark and starting to rain, but we were in a huge tent watching great GOMEZ

me with my new tinnitus earplugs: I can hear everything, but at a lower level

sons wanted the keys to go back to the bus
lucy said no
z loses everything so I said maximum should take them: trusting him with the responsibility and expressing to him the importance of not losing the keys: how ALL our stuff was in the bus and that it was our home for the weekend.

just minutes later we got a text from Z saying maximum had lost our motorhome keys, somewhere in henham park

i thought they were joking

but that joke wasn't funny anymore
snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity

followed a site-wide search
people in the tent helping with torches on phones (some thinking they were helping find drugs not keys)
maximum getting more and more stressed as I was getting more and more angry
to the point where I lost the ability to speak

sent Lucy, Annabel and Stu back to watch primal scream (apparently brilliant) and then to dance on at various dj's and discos

while I waited 3hrs for the AA to turn up, then negotiate with security to let the AA on site, so they could break us in to our own motorhome and we could sleep indoors through a thunderstorm

logged the loss with the lost and found tent
i reckoned that if an adult found the keys, they'd understand the implications of not handing them in
and if a kid found the keys....
