YOU ARE CAKE

YOU ARE CAKE

DTT early

stopped at andy's for perou-mobile aircon attention: it needs new AC

spent a while trying to fix sister-in-law Emma's stairway hand-rail: flexing my DIY skills, but FAILED due to bendy wall and inflexible rail
and not enough DIY skills

left in a sweaty mess

stopped at auto-audio for in-car entertainment fix

lunch-for-one at royal cafe (not the same as café Royale) while i waited: home-made lasagne, chips and salad

in-car entertainment exploratory investigation: results inconclusive

i have special needs and regularly invent special problems

like the time I was shooting Messi for Adidas on the highest pressured shoot I've ever had and my hasselBAD (sic) presented a large red '?' on the back of my camera.
I'd never seen this error warning before: neither had any of my 3 assistants and neither had hasselblad UK
and I've never seen it since, fortunately

special needs and special problems
I used to enjoy feeling 'unique' but it has it's downsides
and these days i feel less 'special'
we're ALL special

my 3pm meeting cancelled
cancelling meetings is a new sport for those you might want to meet

i honestly think it's best not to arrange meetings with people who dont want to meet you
only have meetings with people who want to see you
dur

like a door to door salesman, often finding the door slammed in one's face, i've spent the last 23yrs going to meetings or trying to go to meetings with people who don't really want to see me: usually arranged by my agent.

taking my portfolio along to demonstrate my skills in an effort to secure more or better work.
sometimes people flick through pages faining interest or ask questions about a celebrity 'what were they really like?'

some rare times, I come out thinking that was a really GOOD meeting: they knew about photography, they were interested in my work and were encouraging about doing something together in the future
but those meetings STILL don't turn into jobs

I think I've only ever worked for people who have actively sought me out and asked me to work for them, without me asking to work for them.

people have to think it was their idea to employ you: they don't like to be told or sold.

sometimes my agent skillfully introduces my skillset to someone

confessions of a working photographer

I wanna make pictures all day everyday: the 'getting to take pictures for money' is the no-fun part of this 'job'

I digress

fortunately Martin green (dude, DJ and gallerist) was able to meet me earlier than expected, at Gail's in Camden, and we schemed some good schemes.
we had both wanted to meet each other

HOPEFULLY this year will see the release and conclusion of several long running projects that have been ticking over in the background: the manson book, the big cat show and auction, something else and something else and MAYBE even the crossrail book the release of which has been as delayed as cross rail.

stopped in Whitechapel after seeing this about GAREY
and took pictures in the rain for an hour
stopped in at WEX for a new eyepiece for my canon 5dIV
