hot city days

hot city days

drove west early and rendezvoused with the crew at a forge in chelsea, to shoot some stills and a 30sec commercial.

a complicated day, that i had been unusually apprehensive about.

but of course, we got the great results.

i used to get 'pre-flight' nerves before shoots all the time, when i first started working as a photographer: when my mouth was bigger than my talent and i used to say i could do things i just HOPED i would be able to do.

for years now i have known what i can accomplish (ie. everything: hahaha) and haven't experienced 'nerves' before shoots.

so now as i chew off a little more than usual and push forwards into moving image and commercials AND i rely on other people in a crew to do what i cannot do, i am still to return to that zen place of super-self confidence.

in fairness to myself and my ego: everything we've done in moving image has been spot on and brief-fulfilling.
i just need to do more.

hero paul

hero paul

for services above and beyond what should be expected.

almost set fire to my second sitter in two weeks.

paul gets away with 'just' burns but made NO complaint.

long hot day.

RTB with maria and diana to shoot a pack shot of the product finished late, 15hrs after we started.

unlike film crews, photo crews work through all tea breaks and lunch (and dinner).

me and my people work hard and long.

i recently heard about a (bigger than me) photographer's assistant having worked everyday for 3.5 months straight: not a single day off.
at least i try to maintain a weekend.
